This personlized learning experience gives you the flexibilty to learn at a pace that is comfortable to you, at a time that works for your busy schedule and you won't have the hassle of dealing with other people's agendas.
Throughout the climbing season we also bring in guest instructors and professional athletes for special climbing clinics. Through the years we've hosted great climbers like: Lynn Hill, Lisa Rands, Arno Ilgner, Craig Luebben, and Chris Lindner just to name a few. These climbers make annual trips to rock climb at the New River Gorge because it's a world-class climbing destination. We are fortunate to have such an awesome classroom here at NRMG; there are literally miles of bullet hard sandstone cliff in the Tri-Gorge area (New River, Meadow River, and Summersville Lake) to hone your climbing skills on. It's the perfect classroom to:
Learn how to lead sport climbs
Learn to lead traditional crack climbs
Learn how to transition from indoor to outdoor climbing
Learn gear placement and anchor building
Learn self-rescue and assistance skills
Learn how to get over your fear of falling with our Certified Warrior's Way Trainers
The New River Gorge is a thinking person's climbing area. You'll learn how to read a sequences, take advantage of resting opportunities, rely more on technique and precise footwork rather than just pushing through the pump or pawing your way up a slab. The varied styles of climbing here will help you grow into a well-rounded climber. A climber who knows how to face climb, trust your feet, jam cracks, pull through roofs and overhangs, develop an eye for in-obvious gear placements, and keep your head in the game.
Give us a call anytime to discuss your options. We operate year round at the New River Gorge and seasonally at the following areas:
"Thanks again for doing the UClimb. Although I have climbed for many years
inside and a little outside this event increased my confidence in myself on rock
twofold. You don't have to be a beginner to get a lot out of this weekend. I
also want to mention the friendliness and professionalism of Elaina and the guys
from the New River Mountain Guides. As you know Dave and I stayed over an extra
day to take a Sport Climbing class with Mike and we had a blast! He is a great
instructor."
