Now Enrolling: Warriors Way Trad & Sport Camps

What are the Trad & Sport Camps all about?
Building off the success of our 3 day Trad Camp, we are now offering a similar 3 day program for geared toward Sport Climbing. We will focus on each climber individually so you get the most from your time at the Camp. When you leave you’ll climb stronger, smarter, safer, and more efficiently, and you’ll have the skills you need for leading traditional or sport routes, through the application of the Warriors Way Program.

What are the dates?
Session 1: Trad Camp--April 4-6, 2008 --Testimonials

Session 2: Sport Camp--June 13-15, 2008 --Testimonials Gallery

Who are the SPORT and TRAD Camps targeted to?

Climbers who want to:

  • Learn or refine sport climbing skills
  • Learn traditional climbing gear placements and crack climbing technique
  • Improve safety awareness
  • Gain a heightened degree of mental focus through applying the Warrior’s Way program

What are the pre-requisites?

  • TRAD Camp: Able to lead 5.8 sport, or top-rope 5.9 with no falls
  • SPORT Camp: Able to top-rope 5.9 with no falls
  • Completion of a lead climbing course at your local gym
  • Climb indoors/outdoors at 1-2 times per week
  • At least 6 months of continuous climbing experience in the last year

What are the skills that will be covered in the TRAD Camp?

  • Improve your climbing skill and confidence
  • Learn traditional climbing skills, including setting lead protection and building belay anchors
  • Lead traditional routes safely and efficiently
  • Climb cracks, from finger cracks to offwidths
  • Increase the power of your strongest “muscle”, the brain
  • Develop self awareness, stay centered, reduce doubts and fear, fall safely, improve commitment, gain fluidity, and increase problem-solving skills
  • Have a fun-filled, educational climbing experience

What are the skills that will be covered in the SPORT Camp?

  • Sport climbing skills, including clipping properly and getting off climbs safely
  • Lead sport routes safely and efficiently
  • Safe climbing techniques and how to avoid the most common accidents
  • Effective risk assessment
  • Break climbs into smaller risk events
  • Mental skills to stay calm, relaxed, focused, and committed
  • Fall safely
  • Improve movement skills to climb more efficiently
  • Giving a cushioned belay to keep the climber safe when falling
  • Have a fun-filled, educational climbing experience

What is included?
In addition to the list below, all climbing equipment is included except: climbing shoes, harness and belay device

  • 3 days of guided instruction
  • Technical climbing equipment

What is the investment?
The Warrior's Way Trad & Sport Camps are affordably priced at $400, including sales tax and all of the amenities mentioned above. We ask for a 50% deposit at time of reserving your space, with the balance due on arrival. We can also set up a payment plan for you to help accomodate your planning and budget. How do I sign up?
Call 800-732-5462 and we can register you right over the phone. We'll request payment in full to complete the registration process. We accept Visa and Mastercard. Payment schedule is available on request, please call for details.

Refund Policy: Should you need to cancel with greater than 30 days notice, we will grant a full refund, minus a $50 administration fee. Less than 30 days, we will refund 75% of the registration fee.

For the complete novice student or the exprienced climber who requires additional training, New River Mountain Guides (NRMG) offers the full spectrum CLIMBING COURSES and professional rock climbing instruction. We fully insured and are a rock climbing permittee of the NATIONAL PARK SERVICE Our head guides are professional instructors who are at the minimum are certified AMGA TOP ROPE SITE MANAGERS and are trained in First Aid/CPR or higher.

Since 1994 we've taught thousands of clients how to become smarter climbers through our intensive skill based CLIMBING COURSES. Our informative teaching progressions and low student/guide ratios ensure that our clients recieve maximum attention and personalized instruction.

The rock climbing at the New River Gorge is world-class and serves as our classroom here at NRMG. There truly is something for everyone here, from challenging sport routes to classic trad lines and amazing bouldering. It's the perfect classroom for improving your rock climbing technique.
