Tim airing it out at Summersville Lake, D. Brayack Collection
You've probably read about
Deep Water Soloing (DWS) in the mags as the latest greatest thing to
hit climbing since sticky rubber. Like most dirtbag climbers you
probably don't have the cash to drop on a ticket to the Mediterranean.
Well, look no further than Summersville Lake to get your Psicobloc fix
on. Little did we know here at the New that we were way ahead of our
time when it came to this latest evolution of climbing. In fact, local
climbers have been hitting up DWS at Summersville Lake every summer for
the past decade.
Summersville
Lake located just 30 minutes north of the New River Gorge boasts some
of the best DWS this side of the pond. There are dozens of miles of
cliff that are easily accessible by boat all summer long. Just rent a
pontoon party boat (with a dozen of your closest friends) from
Summersville Lake Retreat and Steve and Donna Keblesh will point you in
the right direction.
We'd be happy to arrange a
trip for you complete with a guide to show you all the safe spots to
hit. Just give us a call for details and pricing. 1-800-73-CLIMB
