PAST EVENTS: 2005
Lynn Hill Climbing Camp 10/10-14/05 New River Mountain Guides was proud to be a part of the Lynn Hill Climbing Camp which was held Oct. 10-14. It was the only one held on the east coast and we're looking forward to next years camp. Thirteen people attended the weeklong seminar with instruction and video review by Lynn Hill, Craig Luebben, Naomi Guy, and Elaina Smith. Lynn's husband Brad, a gourmet chef, prepared meals to die for every morning and evening, and we soaked our sore muscles in the hot tubs at Opossum Creek Retreat deluxe cabin accomodations. Check back with us for details on next years clinic.
Warrior's Way Mental Training Clinic 10/15-16/05 We also hosted Arno Ilgner and his Warrior's Way Mental Training Clinic. While the clinic size was small, we made a lot of headway with the ladies who signed up for the clinic. Big thanks go out to Gilda Hauser who made the trip solo all the way from Planet Rock in Michigan, Elizabeth O'Neill who covered the clinic for Urban Climber Magazine, Jane Clements and Chris Cios from Richmond. You guys rock!
Sterling Rope Women's Weekend 11/12-13/05 The Sterling Rope Women's Weekend was a huge success! We had over 80 women in attendance many who had never climbed outdoors before. The first day was an informal climbing session with female instructors, day two was more instructional setting where we covered skills such as technique, safety concerns, cleaning routes, belaying a leader, mock leading, trad anchors and crack technique. Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
