Thanks so very much to you and Mike
for all of your help during the course of the weekend! Your guidance was
delivered in the most encouraging manner, and you both had so many valuable
things to offer each of us!
It’s funny - -after that first day,
I thought “gosh…I’m among so many strong climbers, and I have SO very far to
go!” By the end of the last day I thought, “what a beautiful path I’m on…and
look….there are other people on their own beautiful paths
too!”
Ladianne Mandel--Oct 2007 Trad Camp Graduate
This course has not only improved my skill level
physical performance but more importantly my mental awareness of surroundings
and assessing fall risk. I’ve learned and extended beyond what I had perceived
as my limits.-Jeanie, July 2007 Graduate
This class really helped me become more
comfortable during the climb. I learned how to relax, breathe and learn during
the stressful part of the climb.-Steph, July 2007 Graduate

2006 Trad Camp Wrap Up
NRMG's First Annual Trad Camp was a big success thanks to great weather and excellent instruction by our guests Craig Luebben and Arno Ilgner. Over the course of 4 days we covered everything from gear placements and anchor building, to aid climbing, falling on gear and self rescue skills. We could have easily spent a weekend on each of those topics alone!
The Whitehorse Bed & Breakfast hosted our guests and were lavished with great food (even for the vegetarian amongst us) morning and night. Tim and Jennifer Gardner, the owners did everything they could to accomodate us and we really appreciate the efforts they went through. We all really enjoyed the B&B and it sure was nice to have a bed to crawl into every night.
We were able to hit area classics like Supercrack, Mushrooms at Beauty Mountain, Bridge Buttress gems like Labor Day, Zag and Easily Flakey, and Junkyard favorites like New Yosemite, Four Sheets and New River Gunks. It was great to see our clients push past their comfort zones and practice falling on gear, leading trad routes and honing their crack technique. Way to go guys and gals!
Keep up the great work and may you have many happy trad climbs to come!
