HOW TO PLACE TRAD GEAR:
This hands-on course is tailored for both novice and seasoned climbers looking to master the art of traditional gear placement. 
 
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Any climber who has a genuine interest in learning about traditional (aka trad) gear placements and anchor building so you can tackle trad climbs with confidence.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of gear placements. Under the mentorship of your AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor, you'll get direct feedback on your gear placements in real-time. You’ll also learn:
  • Refresh knots
  • Intro to different types of trad gear protection
  • How to place traditional gear
  • How to assess trad gear placements
  • How to build a trad gear anchor
  • Racking strategies

PRE-REQUISITES:
  • 6 months of climbing experience
  • Top rope belay certified
  • Able to top rope 5.8 indoors without falls or hangs

OPEN ENROLLMENT GROUP COURSES

This course must reach a minimum enrollment of 2 students 14 days in advance in order to run. If we do not reach the minimum students, we will cancel the course and provide a full refund.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?
  • AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor at a 1:4 ratio

  • All the necessary climbing equipment to conduct the course. You are welcome to bring any equipment you own to practice with during the course.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
  • Transportation. You will follow in your own vehicle to the climbing area and depart from that location when your trip is complete.

  • Gratuities. Your AMGA Certified Guide is a trained service provider who takes pride in offering you the best service possible. Tips are a way to show your appreciation for their professionalism. We recommend 10-20% of your trip price as a starting point.
