We do not provide transportation to, from or during any of the course locations. You will follow your instructor in your own vehicle to the climbing area. Average drive times range from 15 to 30 minutes on paved roads. Any passenger car can easily travel to the crags in the New River Gorge area.
BILLING, DEPOSITS & CANCELLATION POLICY
Full payment (or a deposit for large groups) is due at the time of booking to reserve an instructor, space on a course, or a date. We do our best to provide a great climbing experience and prefer to reschedule trips instead of canceling.
Trips can be rescheduled at no additional cost and must be within 8 months of the original date. If it is determined that canceling is the best course of action, the following criteria will determine the refunded amount:
Any trip New River Mountain Guides cancels may be eligible for a full refund.
If your trip is canceled before the day of your trip, your payment is refundable less the specified deposit (Standard trips - $50, Large group trips - $100-$1000, Any camp - $100).
If your trip is canceled the day of or you fail to appear, you will be charged the full amount of the trip.
There will be no refunds once a course is half over.
The weather at the New River Gorge changes regularly from day to day and hour to hour. It is not uncommon for the forecast to predict a 30% chance of rain or higher.
What this means is that there is a possibility of rain in 30% of the forecasted area. This also means there is a 70% area without any predicted rainfall. Fortunately, the Nutall sandstone dries very quickly and there are many protected areas that stay dry even when it is raining/has rained. The presence of any severe weather will prevent any trip from continuing as scheduled.
The forecast is ever changing and mysterious. We do our best to work with you in and around the weather. We also know how important this investment is to your climbing. Our guides know how to keep you busy and learning even in different weather conditions. And if that is not possible we can always reschedule.
We are permitted by the National Park Service and must adhere to strict guide to client ratios and group size limitations. These rule were implemented to reduce environmental impacts within the park and for your personal safety. Therefore, we cannot allow spectators to accompany climbing trips. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
