It's been 10 years since we launched our website and now we're happy to finally bring you a completely re-designed website to your fingertips. It's loaded with new features like this blog, re-organized and streamlined information to make it easier for you to navigate on your desktop or smartphone.
Check back here regularly for tips from our guides, learn about upcoming events and other news related items about climbing at the New River Gorge and destinations near and far. Here at the New, our 2015 summer guide season has been off to a galloping start.
Head Guide Jeff Hearn is back for his fifth season and has officially stepped up into the role of our New River Operations Manager. You'll hear his voice when you call and he's staying busy responding to your emails and scheduling trips.
Jeff also completed his Warrior's Way Training and is now a course provider. He toured with Arno Ilgner and co-taught clinics in the Northern Virginia area and has already taught a Trad/Mental and a Fall/Commit Camp back here at the New.
We are excited to launch a new program called Cliff Notes, which is held at the American Alpine Club Campground. This is Jeff's brain-child, and it gives you the chance to ask an AMGA Certified Guide technical questions, get area beta and stay up to date on New River happenings. Just stop by the campfire ring at the campground on Friday evening after 7pm. Jeff and/or Matt will be around to answer your questions.
NRMG owner, Elaina Arenz just returned from Jackson, Wyoming where she took the AMGA Alpine Guide Course with Jackson Hole Mountain Guides. The early spring conditions in the Tetons made for a super alpiney experience with lots of unconsolidated snow on the upper sections of The Grand Teton. I'm looking forward to putting all of the skills to practice later this summer in the Tetons and Sierras.
But for now, the New is the place to be and we hope to see you guys here soon.
Happy Climbing
