NRMG was started back in 1994 by local guide book author Steve Cater and Roxanna Brock. It went through a few ownership changes through the years, but since 2001 it's been owned and operated by Elaina Arenz and managed by Jeffery Hearn. They've been a constant presence in the New River Gorge climbing scene, while others have come and gone.
Together, they've put together an all star team of AMGA Certified Climbing Instructors and Guides, who are dedicated to providing all of our clients five star service. Our goal is to educate and mentor climbers of all abilities and experience levels, so that they can become self-sufficient, responsible for their own safety, be proficient with technical systems, have a greater awareness of risk management, and be stewards of the climbing environment.
We always lead by example and it’s our goal to be educators and ambassadors to the New River Gorge climbing community. As a Certified AMGA Instructor orGuide, we take pride in being role models who stay up to date on industry best practices to be effective educators and exemplary risk managers.
